Session Tips:

Here are a few tips which you may find helpful when planning your portrait session. I want your portraits to be as individual as you are! Keep these suggestions in mind and feel free to call me before your scheduled appointment if you have any questions. (419) 884-3696 or (419) 688-5871

Children

· Choose a time that coordinates well with your family's daily schedule. Children do best when they are well rested and fed.

· Keep dry snacks on hand for children in case they need something to keep them motivated during the session.

· Feel free to include props that will show off your (or your child's) personality and interests. Also, if your child is unable to sit up without assistance please bring along a prop.

· If children cry or are uncooperative, we will take time to settle them down and work with them to get the desired out come.

· Share with me what they like and I will try to use their interests to help them feel at ease.

Clothing

· Choose clothing that is not too busy or bright as it draws attention away from the face, solid colors are best.

· Dark colors can make you look thinner and lighter colors can emphasize body size.

· Decide whether you want the portraits to be casual or formal and dress accordingly.

· When you have 2 or more people being photographed, dress everyone in the same clothing style and color scheme. This draws attention to everyone's face and makes the group seem cohesive.

· Leave patterned or bold attire at home unless you are having solo photographs done.

· Try not to mix dark and light colors.

· Adults look best when wearing long sleeves. It draws attention away from the arms and focuses it on the face. Short sleeves are fine for infants and children.

· Think about where you want the portrait to be displayed in your home and choose clothing colors that will coordinate with your décor.

· Make sure everyone is dressed from head to toe in case we take some full-length shots. However, be prepared to kick off your shoes if we so choose. Children tend to photograph better in bare feet as shoes make their little feet look bigger than they are.

· A second set of clothing (especially for children) can give you a different look to your portrait package.

Hair & Makeup

· Keep hairstyles and make-up simple.
· Avoid a new hairstyle right before your appointment.

Keep It Fun!

· During the portrait session, be yourself! No one likes a forced looked, I'd much rather go with the flow and capture special moments as they happen.

· Prepare everything ahead of time so you are not rushed on portrait day.

· Keep it fun and relaxed!

· Your input is very important! If you have a particular idea or pose in mind, please feel free to share it with me so I can incorporate it into your portraits.
